At Valdemar, five generations have shared the same restless curiosity and desire to keep exploring new possibilities in Rioja. This forward-looking approach has led us to recover grape varieties, champion vineyards with a strong identity and discover new ways of interpreting our origins.
Now we are taking another step forward with the launch of Conde Valdemar Sparkling Rosé 2021, our new Rioja rosé sparkling wine, made from 100% Garnacha and available from 14 September.
A fresh, elegant and gastronomic wine created with a clear idea in mind: to offer a new way of enjoying sparkling wines from Rioja.
A new expression of Garnacha
Garnacha is part of our history and has always been a variety closely connected to Valdemar. Over the years, we have explored it from very different perspectives, seeking to reveal its character, freshness and remarkable ability to produce wines with a distinctive personality.
With Conde Valdemar Sparkling Rosé 2021, we wanted to discover a different expression of this variety.
For its production, we select Garnacha with precisely the qualities that a great sparkling wine requires: freshness, acidity and a pronounced floral character. The grapes are harvested early and by hand to preserve their natural tension and ensure the finesse of the base wine.
The result is a sparkling wine that retains the personality of Garnacha while revealing it in a different way: delicate, vibrant and fresh.
36 months to achieve a fine, creamy bubble
Conde Valdemar Sparkling Rosé 2021 is made using the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle followed by 36 months of ageing between tirage and disgorgement.
And here, time has an important role to play.
Ageing in bottle allows the bubbles to integrate slowly, bringing softness and complexity to the wine. The result is a very fine, persistent bubble, beautifully integrated, together with an especially creamy texture on the palate.
It is also a Brut Nature, a choice that allows us to preserve the wine’s purity, freshness and character.
What is Conde Valdemar Sparkling Rosé 2021 like?
At first sight, it stands out for its bright pale pink colour with delicate coral highlights. In the glass, its fine and persistent bubbles form continuous streams and an elegant crown.
On the nose, it is fresh and expressive. Aromas of red berries are accompanied by floral notes and subtle hints of spice. Bottle ageing also brings delicate notes of freshly baked bread and brioche, adding depth without overshadowing the fruit.
On the palate, it is smooth, balanced and savoury. The bubbles are beautifully integrated into a creamy texture, while red fruit and the floral character of Garnacha reappear. Its freshness provides tension and leads to a fine, lingering finish.
An elegant sparkling wine, but also one that is wonderfully easy to enjoy.
A Rioja sparkling wine made for the table
For many years, sparkling wines have been associated almost exclusively with major celebrations and special toasts. We believe they have much more to offer.
Conde Valdemar Sparkling Rosé was created precisely with that purpose in mind: to be a wine that can accompany a celebration, but also be enjoyed as part of a meal, with an appetizer, or at any time when you simply feel like opening a special bottle.
Its freshness, balance and gastronomic character make it an extremely versatile partner. It works particularly well with appetisers, rice dishes, fish, seafood, Asian cuisine, gently spiced dishes and even white meats.
Served between 6 and 8°C, it can accompany everything from the first aperitif to the end of a meal.
A different image for a new Conde Valdemar
This launch also introduces a new wine to the Conde Valdemar family, and we wanted its image to make it clear from the very first glance that this is something different.
Its label therefore embraces a fresh, creative and contemporary visual language, while retaining the elegance that defines Conde Valdemar.
An image that reflects the philosophy behind the wine itself: looking at our history and our origins from a new perspective.
Our commitment to Rioja sparkling wines continues
Conde Valdemar Sparkling Rosé 2021 is not an isolated project.
Over recent years, we have continued to explore our own interpretation of sparkling wines from Rioja, working with different grape varieties, vineyards and ageing periods.
This same spirit gave rise to Finca Alto Cantabria Gran Añada Sparkling, made from Viura grown in one of our family’s most emblematic vineyards and now one of the most distinctive projects in our recent history.
Now, Conde Valdemar Espumoso Rosé is expanding on that path from a different perspective.
Viura and Garnacha. White and rosé. Two different interpretations of sparkling wine, united by the same philosophy: selecting vineyards with identity, interpreting each variety with precision and allowing time to reveal all of their elegance.
