Four Bodegas Valdemar wines score between 91 and 94 points in Decanter’s Rioja Report 2026, one of the leading international publications in the world of wine.
Rioja, time, and a way of understanding wine that we have been building generation after generation. The new Decanter Rioja Report 2026 brings us four pieces of great news, recognising some of the wines that best represent Valdemar’s diversity and identity.
From two of our most iconic wines, Conde Valdemar Gran Reserva and Reserva, to the distinctive character of the Maturana in Balcón de Pilatos and the expression of Viura in Finca Alto Cantabria, these scores reflect different ways of interpreting the same origin.
And the results make us particularly proud:

Close behind is Conde Valdemar Reserva 2019, with 93 points.
Reserva and Gran Reserva are two particularly important wines for us because they represent an essential part of our identity. They speak of tradition, patience and respect for a style of Rioja that continues to evolve without losing what makes it instantly recognisable.
This new recognition from Decanter is especially significant for two wines that form part of Valdemar’s history and remain two of our key references today.
Balcón de Pilatos Maturana 2022: 91 points
The Rioja Report 2026 also awards 91 points to Balcón de Pilatos Maturana 2022.
Here we discover another side of Rioja: one defined by varieties with a strong personality and by the desire to explore their full potential.
Balcón de Pilatos reflects precisely the spirit of curiosity that has always been part of Valdemar: seeing tradition not as something static, but as a starting point from which to continue discovering new expressions of our land.
Maturana gives this wine a distinctive identity and shows just how diverse Rioja can be when we delve deeper into its grape varieties and its different landscapes.
Conde Valdemar Finca Alto Cantabria 2023: 91 points
Conde Valdemar Finca Alto Cantabria 2023 also receives 91 points, making it one of our great white wines and a wine particularly closely linked to its origin.
From Finca Alto Cantabria, one of our most emblematic vineyards, this Viñedo Singular offers a different way of expressing Rioja through Viura, with a focus on the vineyard, the character of the site and the ability of great Rioja whites to deliver depth, complexity and evolution.
Its inclusion among the wines highlighted by Decanter once again underlines the importance of white wines in both the present and the future of Rioja.

Conde Valdemar Gran Reserva 2019 received 91 points, while Conde Valdemar Reserva 2019 achieved 90 points, further strengthening the international recognition of two of our most iconic wines.
These recognitions from the Decanter Rioja Report 2026 and Wine Spectator encourage us to continue working in the same direction: preserving the expertise that forms part of our history while continuing to explore everything Rioja still has to tell.
