We are launching a new vintage. At Bodegas Valdemar, there are dates that mark a turning point. And this year we are celebrating one of them: the 50th anniversary of the Finca Alto Cantabria vineyard, one of our most emblematic plots and the origin of some of our most renowned wines.
To commemorate this milestone, we are launching the second vintage of a very special wine: our sparkling Conde Valdemar Finca Alto Cantabria Gran Añada 2020. A sparkling wine that stands out not only for its quality, but also for being the only one produced in Rioja under the Viñedo Singular category, a distinction that recognizes vineyards with unique characteristics and a history of excellence.
We launch a new vintage: A pioneering sparkling wine
The launch of the first vintage was a true statement of intent. In a region like Rioja, traditionally associated with red wines, we wanted to go further and explore new possibilities from a very personal perspective. We opted for a sparkling white wine made from 100% Viura grapes from a single vineyard, aged for a long time on lees, which gives it elegance, depth, and complexity.
The feedback was exceptional, both among professionals and our most loyal customers. That is why this 2020 vintage, produced with the same philosophy, has arrived to consolidate this wine as a cult classic within our collection.

Only 1,581 bottles of this new edition have been produced. Each one reflects the character of the Finca Alto Cantabria vineyard: its altitude, its orientation, its calcareous soil and, above all, the respect with which we have worked it for five decades.
This sparkling wine has been created for those who value authenticity, elegance, and uniqueness. For those who seek wines that tell a story in every glass.
50 years defying the rules
Finca Alto Cantabria was planted by our family in the 1970s, at a time when it was unusual to focus on white wines in Rioja. But at Valdemar, we have always believed in this vineyard’s ability to produce long-lasting, expressive white wines with personality.
Over the years, this vineyard has received numerous awards and has been key to the evolution of Rioja white wines. Today, half a century later, it remains one of our company’s greatest sources of pride.
And this sparkling wine is, without a doubt, its maximum expression.
